Meet your new developmental editor.
Hi, I’m Katie. I'm a developmental editor with an eye for story structure, pathos, and characters that readers actually care about. Through kind and actionable feedback, I’ve helped over fifty authors bring clarity, structure, and heart to their work.
When I’m not deep in a manuscript, you can find me running around Philadelphia, working on my own novel, or reading at my favorite coffee shop.
Developmental editing focuses on the big picture of your book: structure, pacing, plot or argument, character development, clarity, and overall impact. It’s different from copyediting or proofreading, which focus on smaller elements like grammar, spelling, and formatting.
Every single book goes through a revision process, and it is normal and expected for a manuscript to change shape during editing. This isn’t a sign something is wrong, it’s simply how strong books are made! Rewrites are not a reflection of whether someone is a “good” or “bad” writer. In fact, I don’t believe in good writers and bad writers. I believe in effort, curiosity, and purpose.
The more I understand upfront about your book, the more focused and helpful my feedback will be. When it comes to our work together, this is a collaborative process. My role is to bring structure, clarity, and editorial expertise. Yours is to bring vision, story, and voice. Together, our goal is always the strongest possible version of your book.
I can’t wait to work with you! To get started, you can send me a message down below or reach out on Fiverr.
